Watching any of the multiple videos of the Baton Rouge Police shooting Alton Sterling is/was heart wrenching. On the surface or the first time I watched it I saw two cops murder a man flat on his back on the ground. However after watching all the videos multiple times I saw much more to the story. Even though it all happened quickly, taking step by step reveals it was most likely a justifiable shooting. Watch one here.
Watch the SECOND video taken on a cell phone. You see and hear:
1. Cops order 3 times get on ground. Suspect refuses to.
2. Cop 1 tackles suspect to ground.
3. Cop 2 pins suspects left arm w knee and trimmed to control suspect.
4. Suspect resists arrest on his back and his right hand digs deeper into his right front pocket attempting to retrieve gun.
5. Cop 1 yells out gun. Attempts to control suspects right hand/arm w gun. We can’t see gun from this angle it is still in his front pocket w suspects hand on it.
6. Cop 2 pulls out his gun, points it into chest of suspect and yells for him to stop.
7. Suspect continues to resist.
8. Cop 1 yells gun a second time.
9. Cop 2 fires 2 rounds into suspects chest.
To see a man shot to death is a very traumatic experience and if that is all I paid attention to I would be rioting out in the streets also. However at some point intelligent folks have to examine the video and see this man Alton Sterling; this multiple convicted felon, registered sex offender, DID NOT WANT TO GO TO JAIL.
And go to jail he would for possession of a firearm. He fought back, refused to submit and got killed for it.
